This Saturday we will go to björnö by bus or car or bycicle and we meet at 10 o'clock in front of teh restaurant on the island then we walk all around the island. the way is 10km long and I believe the path are free from snow. An easy one!!
Don't forget warm clothes (again and again) and food. We won't have a BBQ but will stop at the end at the restaurant for a fika so bring your money.
As we will walk near björnöbron, some of you might want to take the opportunity and try ice skating. (please refer to our previous posts to buy them in Myrorna).
you can take the bus line 98 (or 15 if you're late) from the train station to "stadsträdgården" and then walk until björnö's restaurant: http://www.vl.se/template/StartPageBus____3658.aspx
You're free of taking any bus you want on the way back. from björnö (around 15:00 or 18:00) or from stadsträdgården.

You are wondering if we did do the hiking on Saturday withe the storm which was kind of obvious in Västerås.
I have to say that yes we did and there are two pictures as evidance.
I personally think it was really fun though it was so ooo ooo ooo cold and the wind and the snow up to our hips in some points...
We started walking from the parked cars aroun 10 and got back in the cars aroun 4. so it was a long hiking. This picture is taken by Honza in the same spot almost just after the beginning and the ending of the hike.
Thanks to Eric, Bjorn, Tobias, Melika, Ayse, Christoph, Honza and Yigit who made it a very nice day.

Deep in Snow, Saturday the 20th

Hi dear friends!

As said before we are going to nature this week with a guide who is working with the nature reserved areas around Västerås.

We are going by car to somewhere around 30 kms far from Västerås and go to the woods.

Good shoes, extra socks and good pants are highly recomended.

bring your lunch and fikas, good moods and lets enjoy.

We will not push ourselves so hard. So we will try to go as far as we can and then turn and come back. Eric said taht there will be roads around taht we can just jump to them if we had any problem.

Just right now we have access to three cars and Tobias, Melika, Bjorn, Ayse, Mahgol and Eric have already registered to follow.

Report on the last and information about the next hiking!

The last hiking (Valentine 2010) was amazing! At least I think so.
We ended up in a group of 15 cool people and we had so much fun.
The place we stayed in (www.flackebo.se) was placed in a beautiful area and the lady who was taking care of it (Elisabeth) was so kind and smart.
I should thank everybody for their good humor and helps to make an amazing 26 hour of fun, sport, joy and adventure.
I will post a picture of the whole group later but there are a bunch of pictures and videos already on facebook for those who are on facebook and for those like me who are not, it comes here later.
People, please send me some of your pictures since I am making an archive of our hikes and it would be nice to have some of your group or even any nice pioctures you like them.
And about next week: (Feb the 20th)

Yes we have Eric who is working for the nature reserved area called svartadalen and he is going to be our guide. I bet it gonna be interesting since he can tell us about the history, plants, birds and other kind of animals that live along the river which also goes through Vasteras.
Please check the website more often since this hiking might be also one of those we have to know who is following in advance because we might need to drive some where by car and meet Eric somewhere along the river but not in Vasteras.
and I have to say in advance that it can be including some walking in deep snow so you need sort of waterproof, warm pants and good shoes.
And it can be tough. more details comes later.

Bad organization? Maybe! So help us to make it better.

Today at 14:00 in Kåren was the meeting and people who showed up or called or wrote to me are:

Constance, Ayse, Tomas, Melika, Bjorn, Tobias, Diego, Yigit and Clover.

Batu is following with his car. Including me it makes 11 people.

We have space for 16 people.

We had Ruben and his two friends in the waiting list, and Christoph and Elham also got on the waiting list. (It makes another 5 that makes it 16 people)

Just right now it looks like Merve, Efe, Albertus, Jongman and Hwajeong have decided not to come, if it is not true and you wish to come PLEASE contact me on my phone 070 74 17 386 today latest 12 midnight since if not those who I mentioned above will just jump in. (this is the absolute last notice!!!!!!)

About the timing a little bit more details: We drive from Västerås around 17:00 on Friday. We have three cars and we are thinking of picking up people from their accomodations. Then we are going to do some shopping in a big store like coop extra or ica maxi since we need to have one dinner, one breakfast and one lunch.

Then we drive to Fläckbo and settle down and have fun (so don't forget the playing cards or musical instruments if you have any and alcohol if you want to drink). During the night we will have a short adventurous night hiking around the cottage and the day after a 2-3 hours hiking around the lake where the cottage is located at.

Then we get lunch and drive back to Västerås. It is obvious taht the hikings are not obligatory so you can come and stay in teh cottage.

Ware paying 1500 SEK for the Cottage and you don't have to pay it but since it is the half of the whole of the budget we have got for the whole year, it would be nice if you pay your share which will be 100 SEk but it is absolutely not obligatory.

We will have real beds and madrasses and pillows and blanckets so you don't need to bring any sleeping bags with you.

Hello every body!

The last hiking was a hard but fun one. Thanks to Ayse, Merve, Ruben, Diego, Clover, Markus, Jackie and Teddy who made it a very pleasant day.

I have not recieved any pictures from this hiking yet but we were in snow up to our hips at some points and thanks to those who went as leader in front we survived!

And this weekend. The cottage we are going to stay in this friday night is booked.

we will drive there so no long hiking but the day after you can choose to follow for hiking or stay in the Cottage and wait for the others who go and do the hiking and come back and then we can drive back to Västerås all together.

The place is called Fläckbo and is located 40 kms from Västerås on Svartådalen. Google them if you are interested.

It has facilities to cook and has two fire places, it has showers and beds!!!! :)

I need to see all of you who have registered to come along on Wednesday the 10th at 14:00 in Kåren. It is obligatory and you have to call me or write me an email if you can not join the meeting with a very good reason otherwise you will loose your place and some one else on the waiting list jumps in.

Valentine hiking! 12th-13th february

Hi dear friends,
Well, it looks like we are already fully booked.
The list is closed.
For those who are on the list and decide not to come, we ask them to do let us know as soon as possible, at least 4 days before friday the 12th, so that others who want to follow but have not got the chance, get their place.
Mahgol, Tomas, Melika, Bjorn, Tobias, Constance, Diego, Yigit, Merve, Efe, Ayse, Albertus, Jongman, Hwajeong, Clover.
Now! For those who think it is just fun, we have to say that it is not!
It is F... Cold!
We will keep shifts to look after the fire every hour and still it will be cold.
You need very good sleeping bag. We will try to warm the cottage but our experience is that it gets warm exactly before we want to leave the cottage, the day after.
We have already two cars but we need one more car. So please if you have access to one car let us know and the costs will be covered by the hiking club.
Did you just ask yourself, "were we not supposed to go by bus?" The answer is no, because we will go somewhere else where the cottage is a little bit bigger and the place is one hour drive from Västerås.
The details will be published latest 7th next week.

Saturday the 6th

On Saturday February 6th, lets meet at 8:45 at the central bus terminal of Västerås (It is at the same spot as the train station).

The bus number 46 leaves the station at 9:10 sharp. By that time you should have your tickets ready in your hands and you can not buy them on the bus. So please buy them either in the station in the VL office or by the ticket automats in the station area. The bus stops at the station called Skultuna Kyrkan and we start walking from there. We have a short look to the Cabin we gonna stay the next week and then we walk towards Västerås.

Please bring enough water, warm clothes, enough food and extra socks. We can go to a Kafe' in Västerås when we are back and fika together.

You are most welcome to bring your boyfriends, girlfriends or simply friends even if they are not students. No need to ask about it. :)

Don't forget your good moods at home.

We expect the whole hiking be finished in maximum 6 hours. so we will be in Västerås latest 16:00. Don't nag if something unexpected happened on the way and we got late! :)

hi everybody
now we are ready with the schedule of next four hikings.
- Saturday the 6th we go by bus to Skutuna and walk back to our beloved vasteras. It is not a long hiking and it might take us around 5 hours considering the snow and picture taking time spendings.
- Saturday the 13th is a little bit different, we go by bus to some where near Skultuna with the last bus on Friday the 12th and we get to the cottage or cabin which can host max of 11 people really packed! then the next morning we walk to Surahammar. it takes around 6 hours and we get the bus back to lovely vasteras on Saturday.
Ones who want to join need to let us know at least one week before.
- Saturday the 20th we go by bus to Hallstahammar and walk back to Vasateras and it takes around 7 hours.
- Saturday the 27th, we will go to Angso. The plan is not realy set in detail but we will do it soon.
This hiking is also just for a limited number of people the max of 15. So you need to let us know about it one week in advance.

I personally loved it. It was so much fun and I am looking forward for more such hikes.
Today we are going to meet and decide about four upcoming hikes and I hope many of you show up. at least those who got to know about it on the rookie hike.
