this week...

Hi dear Hikers!
It looks like it is going to be a good weather on Saturday this weekend.
Me and Constance thought that it would be good to go for a loop around Surahammar. She has done it before but I have never been on this hike.
We need to take the train to Surahammar and from there we go on Bruksleden Hiking Treck and then take the bus or train back to the beloved Västerås.
The preliminary plan is to meet at the central station at 10:00 and take the train to Surahammar. It takes us half an hour to reach Sura.
We walk for around 6 hours, making 17 kms walk and take the bus back to Västerås at 17:22 and will be in Västerås at 17:45.
Not only good shoes, extra socks, good mood, enough water and food is REQUIRED but also coins to buy tickets from the machine or coming earlier to the station to buy tickets from the office in the station is also very important otherwise you have to buy the ticket more expensive onboard.
Please chek the blog the night before hiking for any possible changes.
Cheers

Report on last and info about the next HIKING

Hello all!

Last Saturday was a combination of
Nice weather,
Nice people and
Nice ending!

We met at the main entrance with some minutes of delay by Constance and me! :)
We walked to the church as planned, had a lunch break in the Church yard and walked towards Hallstahammar on Brukslden. Just at the begining of the traktor way we found out the way was not touched and the snow was kind of deep and melting... so we had a polling round if we should go back the same way to västerås and make the summation of 14 KM or be more adventurous and go a little bit further. So we continued and ended up on 66 towards Västerås. We entered Västerås from Erikslund, did some shopping and then walked towards Clovers place to visit her oppen hous. We were welcome as always, got some dry socks, tea, coffee, pie and some other good snacks and then walked back to the city centrum.

It was a nice day, thanks to all who joined. Correctme if I miss spelled a name:
Constance, Tobbias, Mahgol, Ligaj, Liudmila, Vaida, Katty and Iryna. Oh I almost forgot Teddy who almost evrybody got the chance to enjoy his company at least for some moments.
For this weekend there is no plan fixed yet! I have too much to do but I will talk with Constance but if there is already any body who can take over the responsibility of planning, we will be happy to help with giving him/her the GPS, maps and all the equipments.
Please contact me or Constance in this regard by email or phone which can be found at the bottom of this page.
Cheers

p.s. the meeting with VSIF was really good. they are nice people who are eager to have more international students taking part in their activities. www.vsif.nu
They have their website in English as well.
We are going to have a meeting with them with all the fadders soon, let see if we can make something fun out of it.
These nice pictures are taken by Ligaj. Special thanks to him.

Report on last week and a little information about this weekend!

Hi dear fellow hikers!
Last week was amazing. We were a group of people called: Quentin, Tobias, Björn, Melika, Ludmila, Ligaj, Anna, Constance and Chandra. :)
We had good luck with weather and fantastic view during the lunch time, at the lake with fishermen who had drilled the ice. Here are some pictures of the nice day on Ängsö. by the way if any body is interested in riding horses on the island, here is the link to the related website and they have it very nicely translated to German and English. http://www.engsohastar.se/
I think they are too expensive for a group student activity but for those who can, please go on and check the website. Please let me or Constance to know if you needed any help with calling, finding the way or anything else.

And about this weekend.
I beasically thought. It would be best to go somewhere without the need to the cars so that we just walk from the city center or the central station.
I am thinking about a nice shurch called Skrike in nourth west of Västerås about 8 kms walk which if we make it two ways it becomes 16 kms and I think it is kind of lagom! :)
More detailed plan comes later.
If you have any suggestions please let me know by email or phone.
Cheers
Mahgol
p.s. by the way I am going to have a meeting with the guys in VSIF, the school's sport association on Friday. Maybe some activities together with the Swedish students in close future? They are interested in us, I mean the VSIF. :) We will see.

March 13th

Hi dear friends!
I hope the ones who have done skiing today, have enjoyed it.

Hubert has decided to take us to a ski trip again in one mounth. I would love to follow.
Yesterday Melika, Bjorn and me were on Ängsö. It is an island in south east of Västerås and it is a very nice place. We went for a 5 to 6 kilometer walk and I personally enjoyed it alot. It was just a spontanious call from Melika and Bjorn so no offense for those who wanted to go hiking but we had no plans for this day.
Any way the whole point is that we have to go to this place by car because the bus or train does not go there and it is at least 20 kms from Västerås.
So

I need to know how many people and who is planning to follow, latest on thursday the 11th so that I can check with the car availability.
You need to write an email to me to the adress mahgol.amin@gmail.com including mobile number so that I can get back to you on phone.
This will be a little bit hard to plan because I am going to the Talin cruise as well. So please help to have a nice hiking on next Saturday.
Best wishes and love to you all
Mahgol
