report on the 37th trip by Walter Abbott

Saturday September 11 marked the first excursion of the hiking club. A group of 11 brave souls set off on a trek that they will surely all remember for a very long time.

We headed north along the bike path that is right by the school, headed past ABB stadium and then again continue

d our northward progress. Our hike lead us through a very neat little Colonyplot and we got to see many beautiful sights that are

hidden in the remote swedish country side. The Hike lasted from about 10am to 6pm and we covered a distance of approximately 23km. Rain was forecast for the whole day, but we got very lucky and it only rained just a little mist for a while. After a long day of lively conversation and lovely scenery we finished our journey at a church, where we caught a bus back to Vasteras. The journey was a great success and the next trip will be one that you certainly don't want to miss.

37th trip, Sep 11th

Let's meet at the main entrance of the school on Saturday the 11th at 10 sharp.

We walk on bruksleden (www.bruksleden.se) towards Skultuna. It might not take longer than 5 hours to reach the cottgae.

There is place for 8 people to sleep in the cottage in their own sleeping bags and there are already this number of people who have registered for it in the last meeting we had on friday the 3rd..

Others who join can bring their own tents and stay outside or get the bus back to Västerås.

There is a bus going for a church nearby (3 km) every 70 minutes.

I think we can take the bus at 17:27 if not the next one will be good enough.

The others who sleep over the night in the cottage or tent! can choose to walk back to Västerås or take the bus the day after which starts from 9 in the morning but is not so often.

Good shoes, proper clothes and enough food and water is very very important.

Hi dear all!

We have got some help from some of our wonderful new students.

There are three guys who has volunteered to help with planning and organizing trips.

We are going to have a meeting on Friday 3rd between 1700 and 1800 in the student union's pub. Please come and show up :) in case you are intrested. You don't need to get responsible for anything. Just being there is a big help.

New school year 2010 - 2011

Hi every body, new and old! :)

We welcome you here if it is your first time visiting our weblog.

As you can find out from a fast browse on our older posts you find out that we have had at least two activities each month for the last two years but, this year, Constance is not sure about her plans, Melika and Björn have not set any plans and I am going to be working and studying at the same time and have a kind of tight schedule and there has been no body volunteer to help out yet.

So we have just four major activities planned for the whole school year of which two of them are ready to release now.

There will be two three-days trips, one in September and one in November. If we get enough budget from the International Committee, these trips will be free of charge for the students and the costs will be covered by the IC, if not then the costs will be divided between the participants.

Let say we go on Friday the 10th of September and come back on Sunday the 12th for the first one. We stay in cottages in the woods. The trip includes a hiking of at least 30 km in total.

The one in the November looks to be between 12th and 14th.

We will come back to you as soon as possible with more details.

Hiking Trip on Saturday 29th of May

This weekend we want to follow two parts of the Bruksleden, that means etapp12 and etapp13.
This will be a very nice round trip in the region of Trummelsberg - Landsberget - Bastmora. We will meet at the main entrance at the university at 10 and will go there by car. At the moment we have one car, that means place for 5 people. If you want to join please contact me (mantzi@gmx.de). The weather forecast says it will rain a little bit, so be prepared to have a rain jacket and take some dry clothes we can leave in the car. And of course something to drink and to eat. :)

Rarely on Sunday

Hello everyone,

I cannot do any hike on saturday because our national hockey team will play great match against Swedish one on Saturday at 14:00 on Ice Hockey World Championship. But I have free Sunday so I decided to do some trip on Sunday. We (I hope somebody will join me) will go by bus to Skultuna Kyrka at 9:05 from Västerås Centralstation. We will have whole day to get back to Västerås by walk. It is around 20 km. I thing it will take at most six hours. Mahgol told me there could be a lot of water in the forest so take good shoes and don´t forget some snack and enough water. If somebody is interesed, please, let me know and send me an e-mail (j.sukup@centrum.cz).
